My Approach
To me, the assessment process is far more than just getting an evaluation completed and a report written. It is a collaborative, strengths-based, educational approach designed to bring clarity and growth.
I believe that we all learn differently and when we understand the nuances of our own learning style, we are better equipped to succeed - both in school and in life. My evaluations are both educational and therapeutic, offering insight into how a student learns best, the challenges they may face, the supports that can help, and ways to build on their existing strengths.
My evaluations are thorough and provide students and their families with both a roadmap of their abilities and a guide for meaningful supports. As part of each evaluation, I select assessment tools tailored to the student’s needs. These often include measures of intelligence, academic achievement, and cognitive skills such as attention, memory, and executive functioning. When appropriate, I also assess psychological functioning to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the student’s profile.
I value a present and authentic approach, and I embody these qualities in every session. My students gain a deeper understanding of themselves in a way that is honest, compassionate, and empowering. My goal is to help them develop accurate perceptions of themselves and confidence towards their educational journey. Students leave the process feeling validated, understood, and encouraged to embrace a positive, growth mindset.
